11/17/09 Citizens Honored by the
 Columbia County Fire Chief's Association

At the Columbia County Fire Chiefs Association’s Annual Meeting held at the  Tri-Village Old Chatham Station on Tuesday November 17, the association awarded Certificates of Commendation to Tara Golden and Brooke Chastain.

These woman without hesitation put their lives in jeopardy on the morning of September 25, 2009 while on there way to work, to help someone, a stranger in need.

While on their way to work around 6:30am that morning, saw a house trailer on fire and not only reported the fire to 9-1-1, but proceeded to arouse the occupant and neighbors, as well as control and stop the spread of the fire, until firefighters were able to arrive on the scene. It was their heroism that prevented a potentially devastating fire, and tragic loss of life.

The Columbia County Fire Chiefs’ Association, is honored to recognize their unselfish commitment to their community.
