It was strictly “standing room only” Sunday morning in West Athens. The West Athens Lime Street
Fire Company hosted a pancake breakfast to benefit the Ashland Fire Company. Last week fire rippped through the Ashland Fire
Dept, town offices and ambulance headquarters. And now fire companies throughout the area are pitching in to help Ashland
re-build and re-equip.
The West Athens-Lime Street fire company knows what its like to lose its fire station. In
1989 fire ripped through their fire house.
According to West Athens Fire Chief John J. Farrell there was "standing
room only and it was bigger than we had anticipated".
