Columbia 911 dispatched Claverack and under automatic mutual aid, Churchtown Firefighters at 2:21pm for a reported structure fire. The fire was located at 6034 Route 9H/23 in the Town of Claverack. It was a residence next door to the Coyote Flaco restaurant.

The New York State Police were first on the scene and confirmed smoke from the residence.

Claverack Command requested additional mutual aid to the scene. Greenport Station #1 was requested with their FAST Team, Greenport Station #2 and Mellenville were requested to respond with their tankers. 

The Columbia County Fire & EMS Coordinators Offices, National Grid and Greenport Rescue were on the scene. No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was requested to assist the residents of the home.

The Columbia County Cause and Origin Team was requested to investigate.

Per Claverack Car 1 the cause of the fire has been determined to be improper disposal of fireplace ashes.
