Columbia 911 dispatched Philmont and under automatic mutual aid Mellenville Firefighters at 2:59am for a reported apartment fire at 3 Prospect Street in the Village of Philmont. Philmont Rescue was also dispatched to respond.

Minutes later Philmont Car 2 arrived on the scene reporting a smoke condition.

Command then requested Claverack with their FAST Team and an engine and Ghent with an engine to the scene.

Philmont Command reported the fire under control just over an hour later.

The Columbia County Fire and EMS Coordinators Offices had members on the scene.

The Red Cross was called to assist Rhiann Clark and her mother who resided in the apartment. Ms. Clark is shown in the photos below.

Reports from the scene indicate the fire started from a candle.

All units were in service just before 7:30am.
