Columbia County 911 dispatched Philmont Firefighters and under automatic mutual aid, Mellenville Firefighters
and Greenport rescue at 11:42am for a reported barn fire at 35 Summit Street in the Village of Philmont. The fire quickly
spread to other nearby buildings. Two homes, a shed and a trailer that was used for storage were also damaged.
Companies
additionally requested to the scene by Command included: Claverack, Greenport, Hudson, Churchtown, West Ghent and Ghent.
Companies requested for standby coverage included: Churchtown, Craryville, Taghkanic and from Greene County,
Catskill.
Chatham Rescue was additionally on the scene.
The Columbia County Fire Coordinators Office,
Columbia County EMS Coordinators Office, Philmont Police, New York State Police, Columbia County Sheriff's Department, and
EnCon Police were on the scene.
It was reported that two firefighters were transported to CMH from the scene. One
for possible smoke inhaliation and one with an ankle injury.
New York State Electric and Gas disconnected power
to the homes.
The fire was reported out just before 3pm.
