Columbia County 911 dispatched Austerlitz Fire District Firefighters and Chatham Rescue at
5:01pm for what was reported to them as an AAPI with a vehicle on fire near 398 Route 203 in the Town
of Austerlitz. As responders arrived they found a vehicle fire only. There was no accident. Per the New York State Police
on the scene, the operator advised them that the vehicle just caught fire as they were driving. No one was injured.
The incident was on Route 203 between Fire Hill Road and Hemlock Lane.
The roadway was closed
during the incident.
The vehicle, a Ford Excursion XLT, was totalled.
AFD units were back in service
at 6:05pm.
